Committees and Advisory Groups

• Interim Advisory Group
  The Interim Advisory Group is composed of public stakeholders. The group provides information and advice directly to the Board to ensure that the Board is aware of potential impacts and fully considers diverse perspectives in making outflow decisions.
   
• Communications Committee
  The communications committee is composed of Board Members, IAG Members, Board Secretaries and IJC Staff. The committee liaises with other committees and advisory groups and coordinates public outreach and communications activities.
   
• Gauging Committee
  The gauging committee is composed of US and Canadian technical support staff and representatives from the hydropower entities responsible for operating the project. This committee ensures accurate monitoring and reporting of levels and flows in the St. Lawrence River.
   
• Operations Advisory Group
  The operations advisory group is composed of members from the Seaway, Coast Guard and hydropower entities. This group provides information on near-term operations, potential implications on the regulated outflows.
   
• Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Adaptive Management (GLAM) Committee
  The GLAM Committee reviews and evaluates the plans for regulating the outflows from Lake Superior and Lake Ontario in light of changing conditions and how water levels and flows affect socio-economic interests and the environment. The information assists the Boards with operations and helps the Boards determine whether changes to the regulation plans should be considered.

Support Staff

The Board is supported by staff of the US and Canadian federal governments and the IJC. 

• Secretaries
  The secretaries provide administrative and communication support to the Board, maintaining Board minutes, semi-annual reports and other records.  They will also act as liaison between the Board and its Interim Advisory group.
   
• Regulation Representatives
  The regulation representatives provide engineering and technical support to the Board and advise on regulation operations by monitoring and maintaining records of hydrologic conditions, conducting regulation plan calculations, accounting for flow deviations, and ensuring outflows meet conditions and criteria outlined by the IJC and Board.
   
• Engineering Advisors
  The IJC engineering advisors liaise between the IJC and the Board, and advise on the IJC’s Orders and directives.
