IJC Shares Experience and Advice on What a New Canada Water Agency Should Be

Date

The International Joint Commission (IJC) has more than 100 years of experience working across jurisdictional boundaries to help governments prevent and resolve water issues. The Government of Canada is creating a Canada Water Agency (CWA), and it too will have to work across boundaries to be successful. The lessons learned and approaches taken by the IJC through its many studies from coast-to-coast can be of value to those designing the mandate and functions of the CWA. The Commission shares it experiences and highlights the merits of its approaches in a letter sent recently to the Government of Canada.

The Commission’s letter is available here.

Those who wish to comment on the creation of the new agency can visit Environment and Climate Change Canada’s PlaceSpeak page.
