Date
Précis

The International Joint Commission identified contaminated sediment as a program priority.  The IJC assigned this priority to the Great Lakes Water Quality Board with the support of the Science Advisory Board and the Council of Research Managers.  The Sediment Priority Action Committee was formed from agency experts, as well as WQB, SAB and CRM members, to carry out this work.  During the 1997-1998 biennial cycle, SedPAC has been:  compiling and disseminating information on the economic and environmental benefits of sediment remediation; and developing guidance for making decisions regarding management of contaminated sediment.
