A project by the IJC’s Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed Board, which began in 2018, aims to review and update water quality objectives and alert levels in the basin.
Following several years of expert review and multiple studies, rule curves used by dam operators to manage water flows and levels in Rainy Lake, Namakan Lake and the Rainy River were updated in August 2018 to improve ecosystem conditions and help protect against floods.

Ms. Erika Klyszejko is a Water Resource Engineer with Environment and Climate Change Canada’s National Hydrological Service. She completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Engineering and a Master of Applied Science Civil Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
