After receiving an Honours BSc in Fish Biology from the University of Guelph, Greg Chapman joined the Thai Department of Agriculture in 1984 and conducted a farmer-oriented research programme focusing on the integration of fish culture in rice fields. Subsequent to completing an MSc at the University of Waterloo, he worked with the International Development Research Centre and coordinated a research and institutional capacity building project focused on fisheries of the Lower Mekong River, in Lao PDR. Greg then joined CARE International (working in Bangladesh and then Sri Lanka) and concentrated on programmes that built the institutional capacity of rural communities to form and implement their own development agendas. Thus the focus of Greg’s past work has been the engagement of marginalized and vulnerable communities, especially in the fisheries, agriculture, and natural resource sectors.

Since 2009, Greg has been the District Manager in Fort Frances for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, when he joined the International Rainy River Pollution Control Board before it merged to become our Watershed Board.

In 2017, he became the Co-chair for the Industry Advisory Group of the International Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed Board.
