Background:

The study was set up by the International Joint Commission at the request of Canadian and US governments, to respond in part to the extreme flooding event of 2011. The study was tasked with investigating the causes, impacts, risks and potential solutions to flooding in the Lake Champlain-Richelieu River basin.

At the meeting, the study co-chairs will describe the key findings of the multi-year study and will present the Study Board’s draft recommendations. Following the presentation, the public will be invited to ask questions and share their views with study members.

The study’s Public Advisory Group members will also be on hand to help people learn about the study and how their input will be used by the Board, and the International Joint Commission.
