Aquatic Ecosystem Health
High water levels throughout the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River system in 2017 impacted several shoreline communities, stakeholders and businesses. This project consists of analyzing aerial imagery data collected in 2016 by NOAA, 2012 and 2017 by the Army Corps of Engineers, 2017 by Transport Canada and other available information collected during the high water event to assess potential impacts to municipal and industrial water uses, hydropower, navigation, coastal zone property, recreational boating, and ecosystem health on the shoreline of Lake Ontario and the lower St. Lawrence River. The information gathered will be used to validate modeled performance indicators developed during the International Lake Ontario – St. Lawrence River Study and potentially support the development of new performance indicators in the future
