Council of Great Lakes Research Managers

Completed in 2013. The Council of Great Lakes Research Managers has served as the International Joint Commission’s principal advisor on research programs and research needs since 1984. The purpose of the Council is to enhance the ability of the Commission to provide effective leadership, guidance, support and evaluation of Great Lakes research as it applies to the provisions of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement of 1978. Membership is evenly divided between the United States and Canada, consisting of individuals managing federal, state and provincial research programs and representatives from academic institutions and private industry.

The activities of this board are now undertaken by the Research Coordination Committee of the Science Advisory Board.
