Air Quality - Detroit-Windsor / Port Huron- Sarnia
Description
A Reference to examine and report the state of air quality in the Detroit-Windsor and Port Huron-Sarnia areas on an ongoing basis.
Outcome
In 1984 the Commission reported that most of the region was abiding by controls for limiting sulphur dioxide emissions and notified Governments of the effective completion of the reference. However, it pointed out that more attention was needed on a wider range of pollutants, particularly toxic and hazardous substances and in 1988 governments requested the IJC recommence work under this reference.
