International Joint Commission names
Mark Colosimo as U.S. Section Engineering Advisor

The International Joint Commission (IJC) has selected Dr. Mark F. Colosimo to serve as engineering advisor to its U.S. Section, effective June 28, 2004.

Prior to joining the IJC, Mark worked for the Natural Resources Conservation Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he managed clean water programs and initiatives, including environmental credit trading. He has also worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, first with Baltimore District in a variety of positions within the Regulatory, Civil Works and Military programs, and later in the Civil Works Planning and Policy Division at the national headquarters office. Mark recently served as one of 10 federal agency representatives on the Council on Environmental Quality National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Task Force that evaluated mechanisms to make the NEPA process more effective and efficient, as well as methods to modernize the NEPA process. In the early years of his career, Mark worked for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a patent examiner.

Mark received a B.S. in Biology from the Pennsylvania State University, an M.A. in Environmental Planning from Towson University, an M.S. in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, also from John Hopkins University. Mark is a registered professional wetland scientist.
