  1. MINUTES

    The Commission approved the minutes of its December 6-7, 2006 Executive meeting and Conference Call of January 12,2007.

  2. APPOINTMENTS

    The Commission approved:

    1. International Upper Great Lakes Study Board
      The appointments of Jonathan Bulkley and Richard Bishop as U.S. members and Don Burn, John Gee and Allan Chow as Canadian members;
    2. International St. Lawrence River Board of Control
      The reappointments for one year of Canadian members Robert Metcalfe and Peter Yeomans and U.S. members James Bernier and Frank Sciremammano;
    3. Great Lakes Science Advisory Board
      The appointment of Dr. John Carey as Canadian Co-chair for a three year term effective February 1, 2007 through January 31, 2010, and a letter of appreciation to Dr. Allan Jones for his service as Interim Canadian Co-chair;
    4. Council of Great Lakes Research Managers
      The appointment of Dr. John Lawrence as Canadian Co-chair for a three year term effective February 6, 2007 through January 31, 2010, and the reappointment of Dr. Harvey Shear as a Canadian member for a three year term retroactive from January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2009;
    5. International Red River Board
      The appointment of Dr. Gordon Goldsborough as a Canadian member for a three-year term effective February 8, 2007 through April 30, 2010.

  3. BRING-FORWARD SYSTEM

    Commissioners noted plans to send follow-up letters to the Commission's transmittal letters to governments on "Advice to Governments on their Review of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement: A Special Report to Governments of Canada and the United States" and a "Report on Spills in the Great Lakes Basin with a Special Focus on the S1.Clair-Detroit River Corridor".

  4. SPRING SEMI-ANNUAL MEETING

    Commissioners approved the Board appearances agenda for the 2007 Spring Semi-Annual Meeting.

  5. IJC CENTENNIAL

    Commissioners received an update on activities associated with the centennial of the 1909 Boundary Waters Treaty, approved a follow-up letter with minor edits to Professors Brooks and Rabe confirming funding for each conference contributor/chapter author of the History of the Boundary Waters Treaty, and asked staff to bring forward additional suggestions for a commemorative coin.

  6. GROUNDWATER PRIORITY

    Commissioners received a status report on the 2007 State of Groundwater in the Great Lakes Basin Report.
