LAKEWIDE MANAGEMENT PLANS (LaMPS): POSSIBLE IJC REVIEW OF LaMPs TRANSMITTED BY LETTER OF OCTOBER 5, 2006

  1. Commissioners considered the background information and suite of options presented by staff and agreed that the October 5 letter should be acknowledged and that, for the December executive meeting, legal advisers should set out the requirements with respect to LaMPs in the current Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement and that staff should further develop and present Options 1 and 5, taking into account Commissioners' comments and assessing the needed resources, and bring another recommendation to the Commissioners.

GREAT LAKES WATER QUALITY REVIEW: IJC PARTICIPATION IN THE GOVERNANCE AND INSTITUTIONS WORKSHOP, DETROIT, NOVEMBER 28-29, 2006

  1. The Commission considered information provided by staff concerning this workshop, including invitations issued to IJC staff, noted the distinction between the role of Section offices under the Treaty and the role of the Great Lakes Regional Office under the Agreement, and agreed provisionally, subject to another call in advance of the workshop after Secretaries contacted the organizers, that the two Commission Secretaries should ask to attend in an observers/resource role instead of the invited staff and should seek a separate meeting with senior policy decision-makers for current Commissioners.

OTHER BUSINESS

  1. Commissioners approved Bill Ayer continuing to act as a Board member for the International St. Croix River Board until such a time as a new candidate for membership is nominated by the Province of New Brunswick and accepted by the Commission.
