  1. OVERALL AGENDA
    Commissioners reviewed logistics for their forthcoming meetings on June 7-9, 2006, in Windsor, Ontario.

  2. APPOINTMENTS
    Commissioners approved the appointment of:
    1. Col. Michael McCormick as U.S. Section Chair of the International Kootenay Lake Board of Control and as a member of the U.S. Section of the International Osoyoos Lake Board of Control, effective July 27, 2006; and
    2. Kathy Peter as the Acting chair of the International Kootenay Lake Board of Control from June 3 through July 26, 2006.

  3. MINUTES
    Commissioners approved minutes of the May 5 and 15 Commissioners' conference calls.

  4. UPCOMING BRIEFINGS
    Commissioners received information from staff on the planned briefings on June 7 and 8 on:
    1. Activities associated with the review of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement by non-governmental organizations;
    2. Potential twinning between Great Lakes and Lake Victoria organizations;
    3. Air pollution impacts on children's health; and
    4. U.S. and Canadian Coast Guard report to governments.

  5. ST. MARY AND MILK RIVERS ADMINISTRATIVE TASK FORCE
    Commissioners received an oral report on the May 24 and 25, 2006 public meetings held by the St. Mary and Milk Rivers Administrative Task Force; noted the ongoing 30-day comment period on the Task Force's report; and requested that staff provide summary information and recommendations to Commissioners following the end of the comment period. Commissioners also noted that their request of governments to quantify waters rising in each country but not crossing the international boundary is still outstanding.

  6. UPPER LAKES STUDY
    Commissioners received an oral report on selection of possible Study Board members and recent meetings held with Canadian government officials on resources to conduct the Upper Lakes study.

  7. OTHER BUSINESS
    1. 2007 Schedule of Meetings: Commissioners approved its schedule of meetings for 2007, noting that the June 2007 executive meeting may need to be rescheduled if it conflicts with the Commission's yet-to-be scheduled 2007 biennial meeting on the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement.
    2. Working Draft Agenda for Meeting with Governments: Commissioners noted the draft agenda for their June 9 meeting with governments and requested the addition of agenda items to address the Commission's Watershed Initiative and the St. Mary and Milk Rivers.
    3. Lake Ontario - St. Lawrence River Outreach Program: Commissioners discussed potential public outreach activities during the 60-day comment period on the Study Board report and agreed that staff should further pursue a web dialogue subject to cost considerations.
