1. BOUNDARY WATERS TREATY CENTENNIAL
- History of the Boundary Waters Treaty
Commissioners discussed an approach, including binational authorship, leaving editorial control primarily with the authors, involving a Francophone voice from the beginning, having translation costs borne by the Canadian Section as is the Commission's practice, and holding lead Commissioners responsible.
- Joint Commemorative Stamp
Commissioners approved a draft letter to the postal organizations in each country subject to minor edits.
- CONFERENCE OF THE PARTIES TO THE CLIMATE CHANGE CONVENTION
Commissioners discussed possible participation as observers at the 11th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the Climate Change
Convention November 28-December 9, 2005, in Montreal and requested
that staff obtain a detailed program, determine the participation of both governments, and confirm that IJC attendance does not conflict with a U.S. policy position.
2. SPRING SEMI-ANNUAL MEETING
- Commissioners discussed plans for the 2006 meeting in Seattle, including possible tours, briefings, and meetings.
3. OTHER BUSINESS
- Commissioners discussed the Commission's air quality responsibilities, their intention to provide advice to governments on their review of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, and various issues concerning the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River study.
