MINUTES
- Commissioners approved minutes of the July 29 and August 12, 2005 conference calls.
APPOINTMENTS
- Commissioners approved the re-appointment of Luis Leigh as a member of the Canadian Section of the Council of Great Lakes Research Managers for a further three-year term retroactive to July 1, 2005.
- Commissioners approved the appointment of Daniel Bondy as a member of the Canadian Section of the Council of Great Lakes Research Managers for a term of three years effective September 9, 2005.
- Commissioners approved the appointment of Alec Denys as a member of the Canadian Section of the Great Lakes Water Quality Board for a term of three years effective September 9, 2005.
RETREAT
- Commissioners reviewed the agenda for the two-day retreat to be held in Windsor September 13-14 and agreed the dress could be casual, there should be a briefing on the GLWQA Consultation Reference and that the Lake Ontario-St Lawrence River session should start at 8:30 am on Wednesday, September 14.
GREAT LAKES WATER QUALITY AGREEMENT PUBLIC CONSULTATION REFERENCE
- Commissioners approved the proposed web consultations for the GLWQA review in principle subject to revisiting budget and bilingual aspects at the Windsor retreat. Commissioners also asked to review the schedule of meetings and Commissioner/staff assignments on the GLWQA public consultations.
RED RIVER FLOODWAY
- Chair Gray will participate, and Commissioner Olson will participate if it is on September 18, in the planned groundbreaking/opening of the Red River floodway, tentatively scheduled for September 18-19, 2005.
INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE
- Commissioners agreed to consider possible participation in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Conference of the Parties (COP) being hosted November 29 - December 9 by Canada in Montreal after reviewing a staff briefing note now being drafted.
