GREAT LAKES REGIONAL COLLABORATION
The Commission agreed:
- to issue a statement of support for the Great Lakes Regional Collaboration (GLRC), to be appended to the Great Lakes Declaration, containing the sentence "In signing the Great Lakes Declaration, the Commission, as an independent international organization, notes that it is not signing as a formal convener but as an observer only.";
- that Chair Schornack could sign the Great Lakes Declaration on behalf of the Commission, with a statement in brackets after his signature indicating that he was signing as an observer;
- that Chair Schornack could accept the invitation to co-chair a GLRC working subgroup on Areas of Concern with the understanding that he would recuse himself with respect to any decisions taken that would or could potentially put him in conflict with the Commission's views on the matters under discussion; and
- that any Commission staff involvement with the GLRC would be subject to further approval by the Commission.
