The Fourth Annual Conference on the St. Lawrence River Ecosystem will be held at the State University of New York at Potsdam, New York, April 15-17, 1997. Community Water Education for Youth: Focus on Watersheds is a live, interactive satellite videoconference to strengthen your ability to design and deliver youth education programs that can make a difference. The videoconference is designed to help youth leaders and water program managers identify community water education goals, see how others integrate water issues into youth programs, facilitate team building for community education planning and measure success.

Communities Working for Wetlands, May 7-9, 1997, Alexandria, Virginia, will be a gathering of people intrested in community-based wetlands conservation who will share their experiences and thus expand their wetlands knowledge. The second biennial Great Lakes Student Summit will be held May 15-16, 1997 at the Buffalo Convention Center in Buffalo, New York. Students in grades five-nine and their teachers from around the Great Lakes will showcase their own research projects, participate in field trips and attend workshops. The participants will summarize their recommendations to protect and preserve the Great Lakes in a "Declaration to Protect the Great Lakes Ecosystem," which will be presented to the International Joint Commission. IAGLR 97, 40th Annual Conference on Great Lakes Research will be co-hosted by Buffalo State College and the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, New York from June 1-5, 1997. The purpose is to exchange information on all aspects of research applicable to understanding large lakes around the world and the human societies surrounding them. Manhattan Colleges 42nd annual Institute in Water Pollution Control will take place on June 2-6, 1997 in the Manhattan College Leo Engineering Building, Riverdale, New York. Two courses, which run concurrently, will be offered: Modelling of Transport, Fate and Bioaccumulation of Toxic Substances; and Treatment of Municipal, Hazardous and Toxic Wastewaters. The American Water Resource Association will hold its annual conference AWRA Long Beach 97 on October 19-23, 1997.
