About the Great Lakes Conference and Biennial Meeting

2003: United Nations International Year of Freshwater

The IJC proudly sponsors the United Nations 2003 International Year of Freshwater

This two-day conference and public meeting will be held on Friday and Saturday, 19-20 September, 2003. For complete details about speakers and events, please see the Friday and Saturday conference/meeting agendas.

Friday is a conference and requires a registration fee of $50 U.S. (CA$75) to attend. Paid registration allows participants to attend the Friday workshops and evening reception. A CD-ROM containing Friday's workshop presentations will be available to all paid registrants at the meeting. Register early to guarantee seating in the session of your choice. All workshops will be held at the Michigan Union (web site - map). View the conference speaker information.

Saturday is a public meeting and is free of charge and open to the public. The Saturday meeting has been changed to begin at 8:30 a.m. Although registration for Saturday is not required, it is strongly encouraged to ensure adequate space and meeting materials. A box lunch is available for purchase with registration. The Saturday Biennial Meeting will be held at the Michigan League (web site - directions and map).

Registration policies

The deadline for Thursday registrations is Thursday, September 11, 2003. The deadline for Friday and Saturday registrations is Tuesday, September 16, 2003.

Your pre-registration and payment of $20 U.S. (CA$30) is required for the RAPs/LaMPs workshop on Thursday, 18 September 2003.

Your pre-registration and payment of $50 U.S. (CA$75) is required for the Great Lakes Conference on Friday, 19 September 2003.

Cancellations
A $15 (U.S.) handling fee will be deducted upon cancellation. Refund requests must be received in writing (or by e-mail) by September 5, 2003. No refunds after September 5, 2003.

A registration fee is not required to participate in the Biennial Meeting on Saturday, however registration for attendance on that day is strongly encouraged to make sure adequate space and materials are available. A name badge and conference materials will be sent out by mail prior to the conference.

The IJC will be presenting an award to the Great Lakes Scientist of the Biennium on Saturday during lunch. You are encouraged to stay and listen to the award's recipient's speech. A box lunch is being offered on Saturday, but must be ordered and paid for as part of your registration.
