- Old Business
The 2003-2005 priorities report is currently undergoing a technical
edit. A final edit of the report is to be completed this fall.
- Workgroup Reports
WGEI- Expert papers from the 2003 workshop have run into
administrative issues at the University of Toledo Law School and the
Workgroup will explore publication in other law journals. Bruce
Kirschner is to follow-up with the University of Toledo Law School to
confirm the status of the papers. Bruce Kirschner is to coordinate with
Deb Swackhamer and Allan Jones to ensure that a complete application is
submitted to The Johnson Foundation for the planned January 24-26, 2006
Wingspread Conference. Criteria for screening of potential invitees
are to include: management of research programs in the basin and use of
research products related to the Great Lakes.
WGEH-The Workgroup has proposed a priority for 2005-2007 which
focuses on an ecosystem approach to the removal of dams in tributaries
to the Great Lakes. This priority would focus on the risks and benefits
of dam removal and the Workgroup plans to propose a special session at
IAGLR 2006. The Workgroup has also proposed a special session at
Mercury 2006 which will be held in Madison, WI in August 2006.
WGPI-The Workgroup is leading the effort to plan a November 9, 2005
multi-board urbanization priority planning meeting. The December 1 and
2, 2005 SAB meeting will be held in Chicago and will focus on
urbanization issues. Bruce Kirschner and John Braden will coordinate to
plan the agenda for Dec 1 and 2. A groundwater consultation will be
planned for late winter.
