May was the month for our Spring 2017 Semi-Annual Meeting, which brought IJC boards from across the transboundary region to Washington, D.C.
The Semi-Annual is a time for boards to meet with Commissioners and share updates about ongoing projects and emerging issues.
The Commission heard and discussed work by boards including the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Board, which is dealing with historic spring rain and a new regulation plan, and the Rainy-Namakan Lakes Rule Curves Study Board, which recently released a draft report on recommended changes for public comment.
The Commission also bid an early farewell to Canadian Commissioner Benoît Bouchard, whose term expires in June. Further, a multi-board workshop on the International Watersheds Initiative (IWI) was convened to discuss a climate change guidance framework.
Below, find infographics highlighting work by some of the IJC’s boards.
We shared these and other updates on our Twitter account @IJCSharedWaters during the events. Tweets from the week can be found here.
