August 21, 2006 - Mr. Michael Fleszar, Sandy Creek, New York

As a property owner in the Eastern Sand Dunes of Lake Ontario(Sandy Pond), I have seen the devastating effects of high water on the Dune system. The most severe years being 1973 and 1993. My home resides on a primary dune. This 20 mile dune system is very vulnerable to high lake levels. We have been very fortunate to have not received any sustained high wind periods during the high water periods of the 1990's. The eastern dune system cannot absorb high water with sustained winds. The results will include the loss of miles of recreational beach, dunes and property. The town of Sandy Creek derives a increasing large tax base from water front homes that will be threatened from high lake levels. I will sell my life long dream, and the house that I built myself should maximum lake levels be allowed to increase. The upper maximum lake levels from January thru June are already to high. I have witn! essed disappearing beach consistently each year under the current plan. I have seen many beautiful parts of the lake Onatario , but none as beautiful or rare as the eastern dune system.
