August 19, 2006 - Mr. and Mrs. Graeme and Kathy Ross, Peterborough, Ontario

My family has had cottages on Hay Island since the early 1960's. We are environmentally conscious and want to preserve the wonderful fresh water of the St. Lawrence. However we do not approve of lowering the water levels as outlined in Plan B. We have a vested interest and lowering the water levels would make it almost impossible for many summer residents to use their docks. Also it would affect the wildlife that is flourishing within the existing marshes and the waterlevels such as pike, mink, and leopard frogs to name just a few. The marinas would need to be dredged to allow boats to continue to use their slips and marine construction companies would be limited in the areas that they could work in. Please approve Plan A. It is the best for residents and wildlife.
