July 9, 2008 – Mr. Edward Hartnett, Port Ontario, New York

There has been a lot of erosion on the eastern shore of Lake Ontarion due to the high water levels. The dunes along the shore have been in decline for some time due to the lack of naturally low water levels in the summer which allow sand bars to be exposed. OVer time the control of the water levels to minimize differences between highs and lows will change the lake shore areas from their natural state of dunes and swamps and this will adversly affect the water quality in the lake. The water quality is a critical resource for both our countries and should be the primary focus of the International Joint Commission.
