August 10, 2006 - Ms. Lynne Goernett, Gananoque, Ontario

The water level plans will greatly effect our business. we are a cottage and boat rental company which runs out of a shallow bay in the st. lawrence river During those low water years we were forced to close our business months early and sustained many damages to the intakes and lower ends of our motors and our clients boats. water intake systems were changed, and basically clients were lost due to the low water levels. Water levels that are not predictably higher and for a longer season ( April through to the end of October) , will cause a loss in faith of returning tourists. This effect was seen with the few years of record low levels with clients not returning to the 1000 islands area. The tourist industry must be one of the largest users of the water levels and their concerns should be with more weight than other water-level groups. Plan " A " is the only pan that will help to ensure a predictable water level and a water level suitable for the boating and tourist industry. I thank you for considering my views. I hope the consideration of the most viable source of jobs and economy along this watershed prove to be the stong voice in the decision making criteria. PLAN "A" !
