September 15, 2006 - Ms. Linda Edinger, North Rose, New York

Dear Commissioner Schornack,

I am writing in regard to the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Study and my lack of support of the recommendations that have been made by the Committee. It was very disappointing that the proposed plans - A+, B+, and D+ fail to take into account the concerns of the residents, businesses, and municipalities along the south shore of Lake Ontario. These concerns were expressly given at the public meetings held during the last couple years. I have a residence on the shore of Sodus Bay, helped organize and personally attended every meeting for the Sodus Bay Area and heard the concerns voiced.

Failure to place upper and lower limits to the water levels would severly damage the infrastructure of the communities along Lake Ontario and its bays as well as destroy protected wetlands near the shores. It is difficult to believe that these economic and other impacts were completely ignored in any of the plans suggested by the Committee.

I ask that the International Joint Commission no act upon the recommendations of the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence Study Board. I believe that there is a need for greater revision to the plans in order to ensure that the most effective plan is chosen.
