September 14, 2006 - Mr. and Mrs. John and Phyllis Ward, Hamond, New York

Dear U.S. Section Secretary,

For three years now, we've watched the river level drop further and further. Instead of taking our boat out of the water in October, we now have to take it out in August. Boat engines are being destroyed as they churn up mud in this low water.

What do we think about the LOSL proposed plans?.....the plans are skewed to benefit those who chose to build on the flood plains. We, in addition, are left to suffer the lack of navigatable water as the Bay of Montreal steals the Winter's runoff.

Weeds and cattails have overgrown our Harbor Cove near Chippewa Bay. The fish are gone, our docks are no longer functional........."our" options seem nonexistent. We need the water level to return to a height 3 to 4 feet higher so that it reaches the "now suspended" docks above.

The real estate value of our "river" home has dropped considerably. Our once awesome dream of a retirement home on the river has been thoroughly ruined by the existing water level. What proposed plan will fix this?

Please do not ignore our plea. We love New York State and do not wish to move!
