LaMPs and RAPs: Enhancing Decision-Making to Achieve Environmental Benefits

All day workshop from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Location: Ban Righ Hall (campus map)

The IJC will once again host its most popular all-day workshop on Lakewide Management Plans (LaMPs) and Remedial Action Plans (RAPs). Directed to a wide array of participants from agencies, government jurisdictions, corporations and individuals involved in their communities, the goal of this workshop is to share and discuss the diverse restoration, protection, and decision-making activities underway in the basin. Traditionally, progress reporting has been limited to sediment removals and focused on government agency efforts. This workshop, part of an ongoing IJC priority work continually monitoring and assessing efforts under Annex 2 of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, will explore the efforts devoted to the enhancement of decision-making in regards to implementing remedies to control stormwater releases from industrial sites in addition to contaminated sediment. These showcases and discussions, including a presentation from the city of Kingston regarding its combined sewer overflow control project and water pollution control plant upgrades, will further enhance our understanding of the necessary actions to reduce the threat posed by contaminated sediment runoff. Discussion of how the governments will deal with the future of Annex 2 during their review of the Agreement will be of great interest to the Great Lakes basin community.
